Department: Human Resources (Rising Together Foundation) 
Position: Foundation & Community Impact Intern 
Program Duration: 10 Weeks (June–August) 
Location: On-Site with Some Flexibility 

Position Overview 

The Foundation & Community Impact Internship offers students a hands-on experience at the intersection of banking, nonprofit service, and financial empowerment. Interns will work alongside the Rising Together Foundation (RTF)—Midwest BankCentre’s charitable arm—to advance its mission of expanding access to capital, financial education, and community development resources. This internship is ideal for students interested in HR, nonprofits, community engagement, financial wellness, or youth empowerment. 

Interns will contribute to real projects, such as designing youth education initiatives, supporting donor and partner communications, and helping to coordinate programs that promote financial wellness across the St. Louis region. 

Core Responsibilities

Youth Financial Health Project: 

  • Develop a Youth Engagement Plan and supporting outreach strategy.
  • Draft youth-friendly curriculum on topics like budgeting, saving, credit, and responsible borrowing.
  • Recommend and help implement digital learning tools to enhance education efforts.
  • Assist with piloting youth sessions and gathering participant feedback. 

Program & Operational Support: 

  • Support community events, research, and logistics coordination.
  • Prepare materials such as flyers, presentations, surveys, and communications.
  • Maintain tracking tools for donations, partner engagement, and program metrics.
  • Organize digital files, assist with internal reports, and contribute to Foundation documentation. 

Desired Qualifications 

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program (3rd year or above preferred; all majors welcome).
  • Interest in nonprofits, marketing/communications, community development, or education.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Canva or design tools a plus.
  • Detail-oriented, self-starter mindset, and commitment to service and learning. 

Learning Objectives & Outcomes 

By the end of the internship, interns will: 

  • Understand Community-Based Financial Empowerment
    • Learn how a nonprofit and community bank collaborate to uplift underserved communities.
  • Gain Experience in Program & Curriculum Design
    • Create tangible educational materials and pilot youth-focused initiatives.
  • Build Communication & Engagement Skills
    • Draft messaging for diverse audiences and support event planning and outreach.
  • Learn Practical Nonprofit Operations
    • Support donor engagement, partner tracking, meeting logistics, and document preparation.
  • Strengthen Strategic Thinking & Research
    • Conduct research and transform insights into practical program improvements.
  • Explore Careers in Social Impact & Financial Wellness
    • Discover opportunities in banking, philanthropy, education, and nonprofit leadership. 

General Program Structure 

  • Weekly Development Sessions (goal setting, communication, leadership, etc.)
  • Cross-functional Group Project culminating in a final executive presentation
  • Networking events, team-building activities, and bank-wide experiences
  • Mentorship from HR, Community and Economic Development, and foundation professionals
